All Party Meeting convened in Srinagar to discuss political and security situation in J&K


Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has convened an All Party Meeting in Srinagar today to discuss political and security situation in the state.

The Chief Minister met Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhavan yesterday. A Raj Bhawan spokesman said the two leaders discussed issues like counter-terror operations, incidents of stone pelting and the death of a tourist in the state.

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba yesterday reviewed the progress in the development of various sports infrastructure in J&K.

Mr Gauba took stock of the progress in augmenting sports infrastructure in the state, for which the central government had allocated money under the Prime Minister’s 80 thousand crore rupees development package for Jammu and Kashmir announced in November 2015.

Under the package, 2,600 crore rupees have been earmarked for human resource development, skill development and sports. Centre’s special representative for Kashmir talks Dineshwar Sharma, senior officials of the Ministries of Home, Sports and State government attended the meeting.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the death of the tourist in stone-pelting in Kashmir is highly condemnable. Talking to reporters after an inaugural session of Naval Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi, she said, armed forces have to be firm with terrorists.
