In Jammu & Kashmir, the Amarnath Yatra was resumed today on traditional Pahalgam route in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. However, it remains temporarily suspended from Baltal route.
Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) officials told AIR that over 4600 yatries left from Nunwan Base Camp towards Chandanwari in the wee hours.
In view of the inclement weather and accumulation of Yatris at Base Camps and subsidiary camps, Shrine Board decided to halt the Yatra convoy due to arrive from Jammu today and advised Yatris to make their plans accordingly.
Governor NN Vohra, who is chairman Shrine Board, is visiting base camps and other camps to take stock of the situation. Till yesterday evening, over 68 thousand Yatris had darshan of the Shivling at the Holy Cave.
SASB officials have advised Yatris to adhere to the guidelines issued by the Board and take measures to avoid water or any type of pollution while undertaking Yatra on both routes.
