Jammu: Expressing displeasure over the non serious approach of the education department for not releasing monthly salaries of the Rehbar-e-Talem Teachers on time, Dr Shazad Malik, Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University today made an appeal to the Union Government and J & K Education department to make advance arrangement of funds for their salaries so that thousands of ReT teachers do not suffer. He said ReT teachers are backbone of school education in the state especially in the rural and remote areas.
Highlighting the distress of families of ReTs, the VC said already they are underpaid and their families suffer economically and face humiliation. In these days of high inflation how a family can survive on such a meager amount, he questioned.
He said often there are complaints from ReT teachers that they are not given monthly salaries on time due to non availability of funds that arises owing negligence on part of senior officers of the education department. Dr Shazad Malik said exploitation of these ReT Teachers who are well qualified holding all higher degrees is unfortunate. He said besides releasing salaries on time, the other genuine demands of these ReTs must also be given a patient hearing. He also demanded immediate regularization of all those who have completed their tenure as ReT.
