Udhampur, Dec 07: Continuing with the Army’s initiative to promote sports, culture and education amongst youth of remote areas of the state and garner interest of the youth, Indian Army conducted ‘Ans Valley Festival’ at Kotranka Irrigation Ground, Rajouri district from 03 to 06 Dec 18. A host of Army, civil administration dignitaries, Sarpanches, Teachers, Students and locals from various villages witnessed the gala event.
The event brought to fore the raw talent available amongst the youth in the region, especially from the remote areas of the Pir Panjal and gave them the opportunity to compete with the best. In addition to Horse Racing, Volleyball, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho and Dangal competition which served as an opportunity for the youth to showcase their talent in sports a large number of children took part in singing, dancing, debate and painting competition during the Festival. The aim of the festival was to build competitive spirit amongst the youth as well as provide a positive impetus to rural sports activities in the region. Winners in all categories were felicitated which included award for the Best Competitor. Over 2500 locals from a number of villages in Rajouri turned up to witness the festival.
Eminent personalities from the civil administration of District Rajouri such as Mr. VP Sharma, ADC Kotranka, Ex Minister Mr. Thakur Puran Singh, Ex Sub (Hony Lt) Santan Singh, VrC were also present to boost the morale of the enthusiastic participants in the Festival.
The chief guest expressed his happiness on the enthusiasm shown by all the participants. He also complimented the locals for making the event a grand success and was convinced that such events help in honing the hidden talent of the state while enhancing the coordination and synergy between the Army, Civil Administration and the AWAM.
