No respite from floods in Assam

In Assam, there is no respite from flood fury in 8 districts. Several rivers including the Brahmaputra are flowing above the danger level. Flood situations remain critical in t Golaghat district due to release of excess water by NEEPCO from Doyong reservoir.

Overall more than 1 lakh people are reeling under the fury of flood in 8 districts.

Relief and rescue measures have been intensified at flood-affected areas. Over 20 thousand displaced people have been shifted to relief camps at Golaghat and Sivsagar districts.

2 thousand people have been rescued yesterday at Golaghat district. Flood water submerged huge crop areas, roads and other infrastructures.

Land erosion has also been reported at many areas including Morigaon district.
