Two persons in Kodagu and one each in Shivamogga and Udupi have died due to heavy rain in Karnataka yesterday. The Government has opened 29 relief camps sheltering 1755 people affected by floods.

Kodagu is hit badly by flood and mudslides due to heavy rain. Many people are stranded in various places and help from the army has been sought to rescue them. Though helicopters were ready for rescue operation yesterday, they could not take off due to rough weather.

Today again efforts will be made to rescue them. According to the weather forecast heavy to very heavy rain exceeding 115 mm is likely to occur in chikkamagalur, Kodagu and Shivamogga today.

All Deputy Commissioners are directed to submit a report within two days on losses due to heavy rain in these districts. Based on DCs report a memorandum will be submitted to Union Government for central aid for relief works.
